Why is getting others to choose God a tall order?
-
It’s a concept that is hard to grasp. Our understanding of God’s will is that His will is applicable to a particular time and/or situation.
God’s statement:
You believe that My will is to give you what you want or a better version of it.
So, although many say that they always pray that God’s will be done, when push comes to shove, they tend to interpret messages and events so as to “bend God’s will” to conform to their own.
Choosing God is not a “practical choice”. It is a very big leap of faith. As God said: “No guts, no glory”, There is the fear of failure and mockery.
It goes against our prized belief that free will is a gift. We have the wrong belief that we have the freedom to be the person we want to be and create the life we choose.

We erroneously think that God wants us to choose what is good – the choice is ours to make. Based on our choices, He rewards us when we die. If we made good choices, we go to Heaven; if not, we don’t.
We falsely believe that God is there only for support. He’s there to help us but we are still the one who makes the decisions and take action. We believe we have a part to play. This is because the belief that “God helps those who help themselves” and “Leave the results to God” has been pounded in us.
We are accustomed to taking care of ourselves, making our own decisions, thinking things out, taking matters into our own hands --- these are hard habits to break. To do otherwise seems impossible. When God told me to “abandon my mind” --- I could not fathom how this can even happen. It simply means stop deciding and let God decide for you.
